#GamingGastronomy – Cream of Chicken Crockpot Stew By Jonathan M. Thompson

Do you like playing games? Do you enjoy cooking? Do you like to occasionally have more than just soda pop and potato chips as snacks for game night? In this new Monday blog series, game industry personalities will be sharing some of their favorite recipes for game night munchies. Welcome to Gaming Gastronomy! This week our savory stew hails from the southern kitchen of Jonathan M. Thompson.

Always great to have friends eager to help you get new ideas off the ground. Jonathan and I met at Gen Con back in 2013 while working the Chronicle City booth. We quickly built up a friendship and have been getting together each year at the convention since. I have been blessed to work on a few freelance projects with him as well. Looking forward to seeing him again soon. I am so thankful that he was willing to participate in this new blog series and help me get it started.

He writes and publishes in a multitude of systems, such as Savage Worlds, Pathfinder, Fifth Edition Fantasy, and D6. He is responsible for such works as Gaslight Victorian Fantasy, Eldritch Skies, Kaisers Gate, Agents of G.A.I.A., Sherwood: The Legend of Robin Hood, and the Ninja High School Anime and Manga RPG. He lives in Shreveport, Louisiana with his son, a few cats, and a large RPG library. It is thanks to his girlfriend Adrianne that he gets to eat so well on game night, as without her he would probably starve to death, and no one wants a starving gamemaster.

Cream of Chicken Crockpot Stew

  • 3 x 9.75oz cans of chicken chunks w/ juice
  • 3 x 10.5 oz cans of cream of chicken soup
  • 1 x 10.5 oz can of cream of celery soup
  • 1 x 10.5 oz can of cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 bags of frozen broccoli
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup rice

Add all to a crock pot and top off with water till full. Salt and pepper to taste. I also like to add onion & garlic flakes, basil, and oregano. Just a small sprinkle of each. Cook 4-5 hours.

    After trial and Error a Full 5-6 hours on High is best :) you can use frozen chicken breasts, if you prefer not to use can :) and can substitute brocolli for other prefered veggies (Or go without.) also you can cook the rice seperately and add in the CrockPot mix after 3 hours and let cook another hour :)
