Back in 2018, I was honored to have the opportunity to present at the Frances White Ewbank Colloquium on C.S. Lewis & Friends, on the topic of The Inklings and Gaming. Just recently, my paper on my presentation was published in the The Faithful Imagination: Papers from the 2018 Frances White Ewbank Colloquium on C.S. Lewis & Friends, edited by Joe Ricke and Ashley Chu.
From May 31 to June 3, 2018, the 11th biennial Colloquium on C.S. Lewis & Friends convened at Taylor University to consider “The Faithful Imagination.” This volume focuses on the roots and shoots of authors who linked the imaginative life with faithfulness to truth. From considerations of the philosophical/theological roots of the imagination as theorized in Coleridge and MacDonald, the essays branch out to look at the specific influences of family, war, love, death, trees, Belfast, and the Bible on the idiosyncratic imaginations of Lewis and Friends.

This is my first time being published in an academic publication, and to have another person write a commentary on my presentation. Even during my graduate work for my Masters, I did not have any of my papers published. So this is quite an honor to see my name among all these great scholars on a topic I am so passionate about, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and the Inklings. I felt really honored as I read John Stanifer’s comments including
I think we need more people like Knight who look not only at the works of the Inklings themselves but at all the books, games, movies and other culture by-products inspired by the Inklings. Yes, we readers and scholars who attend these colloquiums and other similar conferences around the world know that the texts themselves are wonderful and life-changing and important, but some of us are also secretly – or not so secretly – diverted by the nerdier creative endeavors those texts have inspired in others.

I really enjoyed researching and presenting this workshop. Seeing my work published has encouraged me. I am already contemplating what I might research and present on at the upcoming Colloquium in 2020.
